Bridging the Divide in the American Dream
For many individuals and families the last several years have been filled with uncertainty and adversity; and new barriers to homeownership have sprouted and grown.
Many families have lost their homes to foreclosure; and those who want to buy homes are facing new barriers, like unnecessarily strict underwriting guidelines and additional fees. Although these difficulties are not exclusive to any one particular group, they are especially difficult for underserved homebuyers.
Offering HOPE
The Home Ownership Participation for Everyone (HOPE) Awards was created exactly for times like this – to recognize and support those individuals and organizations that continue to plant the seeds of hope, in families, communities and the nation, when the barriers to homeownership grow and overshadow the American Dream.
While much work has been done to overcome and minimize barriers to homeownership, preserving the American Dream is not a one-time goal; it requires constant work and vigilance.
More than ever before, America needs people and programs like those the HOPE Awards honors to ensure progress is not lost – and that potential homebuyers and current homeowners continue to see homeownership as possible for everyone who desires it.
