
The Home Ownership Participation for Everyone (HOPE) Awards is a national industry awards program that recognizes individuals and organizations that are making outstanding contributions to increase and sustain minority homeownership, revitalize communities, and expand affordable housing opportunities.
Winners receive $10,000 and paid travel expenses to attend the HOPE Awards in May 2011 in Washington, D.C.
Public Policy Award
Recognizes an individual or organization whose public policy advocacy efforts at the local, state or federal level have helped overcome barriers and increase access to or sustain minority homeownership.
Criteria
Impact (20 points) Entries must demonstrate success in advancing public policies or programs that overcome barriers and increase access to minority homeownership.
Contribution (20 pts) Nominees will be judged on their level of personal contribution.
Innovation (10 points) The public policy advocacy efforts of the nominee should demonstrate innovative thinking or include at least one element that is pioneering or distinctive.
Minority Focus (10 points) Programs must address homeownership needs or barriers specific to minority homebuyers.
Affordability (10 points) As the greatest barrier to minority homeownership, special consideration is given to policies or programs that advocate for affordability and greater housing access.
